Validation, calibration, and scientific analysis of profiles acquired by the atmospheric sounders on MGS and MRO

This investigation will assess the accuracy and mutual consistency of atmospheric profiles acquired by the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) Thermal Emission Spectrometer (TES), the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) Mars Climate Sounder (MCS), and radio occultation (RO) experiments conducted with both spacecraft. These instruments differ widely in their attributes and capabilities, so that careful cross-validation is required before the observations can be integrated reliably into a unified description of Martian weather and climate.
